Smart ways to a better customer experience
Smarter ways to meeting your evolving needs
Every day a quarter of the world’s population connects using infrastructure and solutions from Nokia Siemens Networks.
We continue to focus on helping you use your resources to build more valuable customer relationships. These relationships depend on achieving extreme efficiency, delivering more with less; and combining networks, solutions and services to provide great individual communications
experiences to your end customers.
Quality wins customer loyalty
Every third customer is at risk of churning in the next year, particularly mobile Internet and smartphone users, as well as high spenders on fixed networks, finds a new study.
Bahrain football fans get starring role
Using video magic, subscribers to Zain Bahrain’s mobile services were able to star in their own football video, which was given to them and the best ones posted online for all to see. Run jointly by Zain and Nokia Siemens Networks, the promotion proved hugely popular, raising the image of Zain as a technologically leading brand.
Sweden´s Telia brings 4G services over LTE to Gothenburg
TeliaSonera has launched one of the world’s first commercial LTE networks to bring superior mobile broadband to the citizens of Sweden’s second city and aims to extend LTE to several other cities by the end of 2010, with a total of approximately 200 cities and towns having LTE by 2011.
Nextel looks toward the future – achieves considerable savings by outsourcing its network operations in Latin America
The passion of a dedicated team, proven performance capabilities and the affinity of corporate values were decisive factors for Nokia Siemens Networks’ success in winning one of the most complex Managed Services projects with the largest coverage that the company has developed in Latin America.
Pairing up the halves of LTE
Until recently, TD-LTE was often seen as a technology for China, India and a few other countries. But with about 90 percent commonality between LTE FDD and TD-LTE, and the light-speed development of the unpaired spectrum LTE standard, new possibilities are opening up for LTE to achieve truly global reach. Operators around the world with access to unpaired spectrum will have an easy way to add capacity to their mobile broadband networks.
The elegant way to ensure fair network use
Quality of Service (QoS) differentiation plays a role in ensuring fair use and sufficient capacity, benefiting users and helping operators maximize their revenues. It’s the solution taken up by Elisa.
Building the world’s largest shared network
Two into one will go, as MBNL is proving by merging the 3G networks of Three UK and T-Mobile into a single shared radio network. Unite talks to MBNL chief Graham Payne who explains the complexity and rewards of the project.
Interview: Neville Ray Chief Network Officer, T-Mobile, USA
With its deployment of HSPA+ in 2010, T-Mobile USA will be the most pervasive network to offer 4G speeds in the country. We talked to Neville Ray, Chief Network Officer for T-Mobile USA, about the evolution of the industry and the company’s exciting plans for the future.
Claro Brazil keeps the customer satisfied with 3G
Claro Brazil’s launch of Mobile Broadband in 2009 saw Brazilians fall in love with the mobile Internet. We talk to Fiamma Zarife, Director of Value Added Service and Roaming at Claro Brazil, about how the service provider is continuing to generate more revenue and keep its customers happy.
Solving the mystery of network signaling
How one research analyst found that network signaling was the root cause of rising smartphone performance issues, and the most effective solution available today.
Creating a sustainable future: The role of ICT
ICT has huge potential to help other industry sectors to become more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, impacting not just climate change but a wide range of interconnected issues that affect the environment, from biodiversity to unemployment. Just how important is new ICT technology in creating a sustainable future? It’s a question we put to sustainable development policy think-tank IIED.

Technology talk: Harnessing the power of innovation
Just a few weeks into his new job, Hossein Moiin, CTO at Nokia Siemens Networks, tells unite about the opportunities ahead and how he is tackling them.
Technology talk: Transform to all-IP with smart mobile backhaul solution
Nokia Siemens Networks offers an innovative approach to transforming a network to all-IP, based on the implementation of a smart mobile backhaul network.
Technology talk: Voice over LTE wins European award
Nokia Siemens Networks’ Fast Track Voice over LTE (VoLTE) has won Frost & Sullivan’s 2010 European Competitive Strategy Innovation Award. The solution entails a simple upgrade to existing circuit-switched core networks to provide a cost-effective way to offer VoLTE in any mobile network. Investments in Fast Track VoLTE are also fully re-usable when upgrading network architecture to IMS, thus reducing long-term capital expenditure.
Technology talk: SON simplifies LTE roll out
With the roll out of LTE, networks are becoming more complex with three technologies (2G, 3G and LTE) co-existing. Yet adding a network layer doesn’t necessarily mean adding another layer of cost.
Technology talk: TD-LTE integrated into mobile portfolio
Nokia Siemens Networks has integrated TD-LTE with its existing mobile platforms, including base stations and core networks. The development is a further step in helping operators to use the abundance of unpaired spectrum in many countries to meet rocketing demand for mobile broadband capacity.
Technology talk: Multi-screen TV brings TV and Internet to all screens
Nokia Siemens Networks just launched a new software client for ‘any device with a screen’ that allows people to watch TV from any source. The multi-screen TV client integrates “Over the Top” (Internet) TV and broadcast TV with the web and social network access. It extends our existing multi-screen TV portfolio to provide a consistent, enriched, and personalized viewing experience, irrespective of location or access device. The client is built on Nokia’s open source Qt cross platform application and user interface framework.
Technology talk: Latest I-HSPA release boosts the customer experience
A new release of the Nokia Siemens Networks Internet HSPA (I-HSPA) solution has been launched. I-HSPA, based on flat architecture, remains the only solution that brings the advantages of LTE architecture to HSPA networks. Release 3 improves the customer experience with top peak rates and shorter latency, while operators can roll out a Radio Network Controller (RNC)-less architecture that is LTE ready, without the need for additional hardware.
Technology talk: More customers means more cost-effective mobile broadband
Operators can profitably provide up to 5 GB of data per month for every voice subscriber by using HSPA and LTE radio technology in existing sites and by using spectrum on multiple frequency bands. A new Nokia Siemens Networks study into mobile broadband shows that operators must increase their subscriber base if they are to achieve lower data delivery costs.
Remote service delivery puts customers closer
Global Service Delivery is a key tool to help operators win the battle for customer loyalty. The capability promises a new way to deliver a superior customer experience while cutting day-to-day costs.
